Great feeling skin, even during winter.
The cold seasons are coming quick and even though we're still haveing a few nice days, we know it won't last.
Instead of trying to play catch up and repair your skin, start these 3 winter skincare habits now (and 1 thing you don't need to do)
1) Moisture, Moisture, Moisture!
The cold air sucks the water from the top layers of your skin. This leads to itchy flaky skin. This is easily solved by adding moisture to your skincare routine and within your home.
When it comes to your skincare routine, look for products with humectant ingredients. This attract moisture to your skin from the air around you. Some common humectants include: glycerin, honey, aloe vera and hylauronic acid.
Apply your moisturizer within 60 seconds of cleansing and lock in that water with an oil. Most moisturizers contain lightweight oils along with water so don't be afraid you incorporate a face specific oil to your routine. It could make all the difference.
* The 60 second rule applies for your body too. Don't forget your legs will be subject to space heaters, pants and hot showers.
Don't underestimate the power of a hydrating mist. These are typically packed with humectants that attract moisture in the air to your skin even after applied.
You can easily add moisture back into your home or even just your bedroom with a humidfier. This also helps the humectants in your evening skincare so you wake up with glowing skin in the morning.
Follow our 4 Step Skincare routine to give your skin the hydration boost it needs during winter.

2) Lower the tempertaure of your showers. I know, I know.. it feels good when your are chilled to the bone but that won't always be the case. Hot water strips the moisture from your skin. That's why you are experienceing that tight skin feeling. Bring the temp down and as mentioned above apply your body moisturizer within 60 seconds. Your skin will soak it all up.
3) Sun damage can still happen throughout fall and winter. Keep that SPF going all year long.
What you don't need to do-
Don't change your skincare routine just because the seasons changed. Monitor your skin as the weather gets cooler and adjust as needed. Your skin craves consistency. Changing your products could just reset your progress and begin a new purge (period of breakouts). If it seems like your skin needs a little extra reach out to me and I would love to help you.
Keep that great feeling skin all year long with less hassel and just a couple small tweaks.
